Bennie's Forever Gift

How to Become God's Forever Friend
In "Bennie's Forever Gift", Grandpa Eldee explains to his grandson, Bennie, how he can have eternal friendship with The Great One simply by believing.
In real life, believing in something without being able to see it is called "faith".  You can have faith in lots of things without actually seeing them, can't you? Having faith in God is just believing in God, even though you can't see Him. Once you have faith in God, you can trust that what the Bible says about Him is true because the Bible is God's inspired words to us.
The Bible tells us that God wants to be our friend because He loves us, but we are not able to be His friend on our own because God is perfect (holy) and we are not.  We all do things that displease God, and this disobedience is called "sin".
But because God loves us, He made a way for us to be His friend.  Over 2,000 years ago,  God sent His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, down from heaven to earth, where He became a man. The great news for us is that the bible says that Christ took the penalty that humans deserved for sin, placed it upon Himself and died on a cross in our place. Three days later, Jesus came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered and our penalty had been paid, once for all.
Just like Bennie, all we have to do is believe in order to become God's friend:  we must believe God's plan of salvation is true.  We must admit that we have sinned against God, ask for His forgiveness for the things we do wrong and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. That's it! His friendship is a free gift from God, but we need to choose it.  You can choose it right now...right where you are.

You can pray this prayer  :

"Dear God, I know that I am a sinner.  I know that many times I do things that are not good.  In the Bible, you say that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  I am sorry for the times I have sinned against you and against others.  You also say in your Word that the payment due for the sin I've committed is death (Romans 6:23), and that because I am a sinner and have no way to pay for that sin, I
will die and be separated from you forever. I learned the good news today that You sacrificially demonstrated Your own love toward me that while I was still a sinner, Jesus Christ died for to pay my sin debt. (Romans 5:8).  Thank you that Jesus' resurrection from the dead means that I, too, can have a new life now and a forever life in heaven. Thank you, God, that I can be saved through faith in what Christ did for me, and I receive this beautiful gift from You.  Today, I am your friend, today and forever more. Amen."

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace (undeserved favor) you have been saved (delivered from sin's penalty) through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
